Renault utility van, manual trans, apparently registered in CA, though I don't know how. This would be a great little oddball daily.

These things are actually rather terrible to drive, and let's not talk about built quality. I get it, it's rare in the US, but that alone doesn't make it desirable.

We had a Renault with that engine for a while. It snapped it's timing belt before the service interval so we scrapped it.

Fair enough. but the same could be said of the 2CV, which this reminds me of. The only small van we get here is the Transit Connect, and it costs a lot more and doesn't have a stick. This just seems like a neat little alternative beater.

I always see the Kangoo as the spiritual successor to the R4. Cheap, boxy, roomy, versatile etc... yet "fun to drive" wasn't on the list when any of them were designed.
